Vacuum Pollen Collector v1.0

$200.00 CAD plus shipping

This is a 3d-printed plant pollen collecting device that connects to a Ridgid Shop Vac with a 2-1/2" hose such as the Ridgid NXT 60L (16 Gal)Ridgid 60L (16 Gal)Ridgid 53L (14 Gal)Ridgid 45L (12 Gal) and Ridgid 37.5L (10 Gal).

It simplifies pollen collection making it easier, cleaner and more efficient, with more pollen recovery than hand collecting methods. Pollen is collected on a circular cellulose filter paper for easy handling.

The Vacuum Pollen Collector Kit includes the following:

  • 3d-Printed UV Resistant ASA Plastic Vacuum Pollen Collector (4 pieces)
  • Sanitary Gasket with fine stainless mesh
  • (2) O-rings
  • (5) Filter Papers for pollen collection

Long Term Storage:
After removing the pollen covered filter paper from the pollen collector put it into a clear gasket box with a dish of color-indicating desiccant beads in the gasket box beside the pollen while it dries. Put the box in a cool dark place for approximately a week. Replace the desiccating beads if necessary, if the beads are changing color. The more beads in the box the better. Drying will usually be complete after a week if enough beads are being used. When the pollen is dry - the filter paper can be folded in half and lightly wrapped in aluminum foil - then placed in a vacuum sealing bag with a few desiccant beads. The bag is well sealed with a vacuum sealer, dated/labelled and stored in the freezer for long term viability. 3+ years of good pollen viability has been achieved with different genetics following this method.

Cleaning the Pollen Collector:
After removing the filter paper rinse the pollen collector well under cool to warm (not hot) water. Separate it into the various pieces and rinse again, then let it air dry on a dish rack. Do not use again to collect pollen until it is sufficiently dry. Drying can be expedited in a dehydrator on low heat with the fan on high.

Notes:
All orders will come with a list of replacement part numbers for the filter papers, gasket and o-rings. Also included are .stl and .step files for 3d printing the adaptor that connects the vacuum to the pollen collector, for nerds that want to connect the pollen collector to a vacuum cleaner with a different size hose.
